Large French Provincial Cherrywood Farmhouse Dining Table with Two Drawers

£1,650.00

A handsome and exceptionally large French provincial farmhouse dining table, crafted in solid cherrywood (merisier) and dating from the mid-20th century, circa 1960.

Constructed in the traditional French manner, the table features a substantial solid cherry plank top with breadboard ends, standing on elegantly tapered legs united by a deep frieze. A useful drawer is fitted to each end, each retaining its attractive aged brass swan-neck handle.

The cherry has developed a wonderful warm honey-red colour with a rich natural patina acquired through decades of use. The top displays the honest wear expected of a well-loved farmhouse table, with minor marks and scratches that add character rather than detract from its appeal.

Its generous proportions make it an excellent family dining table, comfortably seating eight and accommodating up to ten for larger gatherings. Equally suited to a country kitchen, period home or contemporary interior where the clean provincial lines work beautifully.

Although of traditional appearance, the table benefits from solid mid-century construction, making it a robust and practical piece for everyday use.

Condition

Very good vintage condition throughout. Structurally sound and sturdy with no movement in the frame. The top has attractive age-related surface wear, marks and minor scratches consistent with decades of careful use. The drawers run well and the table is ready for everyday use.
