This beautiful ornately carved oak bookcase is from the mid to late Victorian period. There are numerous different carving techniques and styles incorporated in the bookcase that truly create a fantastically unique showpiece. The bookcase has carved pilasters with turned spirals at the bottom and finely carved foliage at the top. There are also well-carved patterns to the leading edges and a finely carved mythical beast with foliage on each side. The bookcase has original polychrome and gold gilt paper on display on the back panel. This is a very good quality piece with lovely proportions which are suitable for the modern home.
