A fine quality early 20th-century flame mahogany Egyptian revival breakfront cabinet. This impressive cabinet features a bold architectural cornice above a pair of panelled cupboard doors displaying wonderfully matched flame mahogany veneers. The doors are flanked by finely reeded pilasters, each surmounted by an attractive brass Pharaoh's head mount and terminating with matching brass feet, giving the piece exceptional visual presence. Both the upper and bottom section open to spacious shelving space with a single drawer in between and have a hidden pull-out writing slope above the drawer inside the upper section. The quality of the veneers, crisp moulded detailing, and classical Egyptian ornamentation reflect the high standard of cabinet making associated with the better British furniture manufacturers of the period. There are minor imperfections and a tiny loss to one door, but overall it is in excellent antique condition.
