An elegant late Victorian mahogany piano stool of excellent quality, raised on graceful cabriole legs with pad feet and featuring beautifully shaped scroll arms supporting a finely moulded crest rail.

The lift-up upholstered seat opens to reveal a generously proportioned music compartment, retaining its original brass hinges and support stay. The front is attractively inlaid with a delicate satinwood-style marquetry motif, adding a refined decorative touch.

The stool has been professionally reupholstered in a quality William Morris 'Strawberry Thief' style woven fabric, which complements the rich mahogany beautifully while remaining sympathetic to the period.

The timber displays a lovely deep colour and mellow patina developed over more than a century, with pleasing figuring throughout. The proportions make it equally suitable as a piano stool, window seat, hallway chair, bedroom storage stool or decorative occasional piece.

Presented in excellent antique condition throughout, the frame is solid and sturdy with no movement, the lid operates smoothly, and the interior is clean and ready for use. There are only the expected light signs of age and use, together with minor cosmetic marks consistent with its Victorian age.
