A handsome late Victorian mahogany library armchair dating from around 1890–1910, upholstered in rich oxblood red leather with a deep buttoned back, scroll arms and brass close-nailed detailing. Raised on turned front legs with the original brass cup castors and swept rear legs, the chair has an elegant yet comfortable country house appearance.

The chair has been professionally re-upholstered in quality red leather at some point in its life and presents extremely well. While the upholstery is not original, it has been sympathetically executed and complements the period design. The leather has developed a light patina with some minor surface marking to the seat consistent with use, but nothing that detracts from its overall presentation.

The mahogany frame is structurally sound and solid throughout with no movement in the joints. The original castors remain in place and the chair sits correctly. A comfortable and practical antique armchair equally suited to a study, library, sitting room or office.
