Fine Pair of Vintage Chinese Celadon Crackle-Glazed Porcelain Vases, 20th Century
Fine Pair of Vintage Chinese Celadon Crackle-Glazed Porcelain Vases, 20th Century
An attractive matched pair of Chinese porcelain vases, each of elegant baluster form with a gently rounded shoulder, cylindrical neck and distinctive thick, everted roll-over rim.
Both vases are covered inside and out in a lustrous pale celadon-green glaze, enlivened by an extensive dark crackle network in the manner of classical Chinese Guan and Longquan ceramics. The glaze varies subtly in depth across each vessel, giving the pair considerable character and a pleasing jade-like appearance.
The vases are individually formed and display minor natural variations in the crackle pattern, while remaining extremely well matched in colour, form and proportion. Each stands on a neatly finished circular foot with a recessed glazed base. Unmarked, as is common with this type of decorative celadon ware.
A handsome and highly decorative pair, suitable for a mantelpiece, console table or symmetrical interior display.
