Italian Florentine Giltwood Four-Division Magazine Rack

£260.00

A decorative mid-20th-century Florentine magazine or newspaper rack, attributed to Italy and dating from circa 1955–1970.

The shaped wooden frame contains four graduated divisions and incorporates a pierced carrying handle. It is finished in traditional Florentine taste with cream-painted reserves, distressed gilding and finely incised scrolling foliate decoration. The principal panels are centred by blue glass cabochon-style details, with further blue accents at the corners.

Standing on four shaped bracket feet, it is an attractive and practical piece of vintage Italian decorative furniture, suitable for holding magazines, newspapers, sheet music or books.

The cream-and-gold decoration has developed a pleasing, naturally aged appearance and works particularly well in traditional, country-house, Hollywood Regency or maximalist interiors.

Condition. Good vintage condition with expected rubbing, scratching and small losses to the painted and gilt decoration, particularly around the upper edges, corners and feet, commensurate with age.

Dimensions: 46cm Height, 38cm Width, 27cm Depth
