An impressive and beautifully modelled large vintage glazed ceramic German Shepherd dating from the 1970s, most likely of Continental European (Italy/Spain) origin.

Standing an impressive 86 cm high, this striking figure captures the noble stance and alert expression of the breed, with finely moulded fur detail and a rich hand-finished gloss glaze in traditional black and tan colouring. The quality of the modelling and scale make it a superb decorative statement piece for both traditional and contemporary interiors.

The figure is hollow slip-cast earthenware with the original factory vent to the underside. There are remnants of the original paper label adhesive to the base, indicating it was originally retailed with a factory label, although the label itself is no longer present.

A wonderful piece of mid-century decorative ceramic art, equally suited to a hallway, conservatory, country house, library, boutique hotel or retail display.
